Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine most often prescribed to treat allergic reactions. This medication blocks the natural substance (histamine) present in the body that causes symptoms of allergies. Apart from this, hydroxyzine is also prescribed for the short-term treatment of anxiety, and to promote better sleep, especially before and after surgeries.
