Linezolid is a synthetic antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections primarily caused by gram positive bacteria. It is used to effectively treat pneumonia and infections of the skin. Linezolid belongs to the category of antibacterials called oxazolidinones. It works by protein synthesis of the bacteria and preventing it from growing further. This medication is only effective in treating infections caused by bacteria. Any viral infection such as cold or flu cannot be treated with it.

Follow the instructions on the label to use the medication properly. You can take it with or without food, twice daily or as prescribed by the physician. Follow the dosing instructions provided by the physician. Do not take more or less than what is prescribed by your doctor. Dosage for children will be according to their age and weight.
For best effects, evenly space your dosage time. Take the medication at the same time everyday.
